Some of the topics discussed in current Nephite Explorer episodes about the causes for personal apostacy and some of the answers are contained in a book called “The Threshing Floor – faith and falling away” by Bruce H. Porter which identifies some of the common problems that cause people to leave the faith. It also provides answers and context to many of these issues that will strengthen ones faith in the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ as established by Joseph Smith and administered by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It is an excellent resource for combating personal apostasy in our own families and communities. If you are interested in exploring these subjects in depth, the book can be pre ordered at this link:

The book is at the printer and I’m told it will be shipping by the end of the month.
As a convert to the LDS faith I have never understood why BYU scholars concentrate their research on south America when the plates came from Upstate New York . I’m glad someone is paying attention to North American and mound builders
Because they brought them with them when they migrated across the ocean to the American continent..
The plates were not engraved on the American continent the people immigrated, don’t forget……. !
Lehi and his family immigrated …to this continent. And the rest of the book of Mormon story occured here…
I’m not an expert but we have the larger plates and the smaller plates…. Which were translated…by Joseph.
Understand the concepts but I don’t know all of the finer details because I have just begun to study this subject in depth.
Where is Mesoamerica..?
Yes it’s still America….
The American continent…..
How many tribes are we talking about when we discuss the book of Mormon….?
Might say there’s several if not the entire 10 tribes…of Israel…
Jacopovich knows a lot about this stuff too….
“The naked archaeologist…”!
He is of the Jewish religion but actually what I read last about him was that he was not a practicing Jew….
Brother Kimball, I totally agree with you about the location of much of the Book of Mormon narrative. You will find Rod Meldrum and Wayne May’s work very exciting and very informative!
They have published multiple books, videos and documentaries all about the Hopewell or Mound Dwellers in the Heartland of America.
We are fast approaching the 26th International Book of Mormon Evidence Conference!

The contradictions here seem laughable. It can’t be small geography, can’t be large. Maybe the BoM took place on Middle Earth? How many scholars does it take?
Could someone point me to an example where ANY of the native American tribes did anything Christian like. Find me ONE native American who’s tribal history matches up with the BoM. This should be simple, it wasn’t that long ago. I’m so over it.
